DVD to AVI Converter
There can be quite a few reasons for you to load your DVD movies onto your own hard drive, for instance: sparing
the original disc from getting used or scratched, keeping a copy on your mobile devices so that you may watch it
anywhere, or preparing materials for a homebrew movie gag. Whenever such inspiration strikes, you’d surely like to
copy your DVD right away--however, what you’ll find in the DVD’s folder might disappoint you: the video files are
in a format called VOB, unlike the common AVI or MP4 or any familiar format you know!
You know what to do? You’d better find some software to extract the movies to your computer.
There’re dozens of DVD ripping tools out there on the Internet, maybe you’ll start wondering which one meets
your standards best. Here I’d like to recommend Aimersoft DVD Ripper, a user-friendly full-featured DVD to
AVI Converter tool born for the need of copying DVD movies.

How to use Aimersoft DVD ripper to produce an AVI movie?
After the quick installation, you can find shortcuts on your desktop and in your start menu. Using either one
will launch Aimersoft DVD Ripper.
When the main screen of Aimersoft DVD Ripper appears, open your DVD drive’s tray and put your DVD in, and close
the tray. Then, click “Load DVD” button on the toolbar.
(If you have multiple DVD drives, you might need to manually choose the drive letter you’re going to use.)
Wait a few seconds until the DVD titles are loaded and listed in the main window. Now you can select a track and
preview it in the player window on the right. If it’s not the video you wish to keep, uncheck the box on the left
of the title.
Now highlight the title you wish to rip, and take a few seconds to see which soundtrack you’d like to keep and
if you’d like to keep any caption or subtitle visible on the video. Then, click the “Subtitle” menu and choose the
caption or subtitle you wish to use; and besides that, click “Audio track” menu nearby to choose a soundtrack you’d
like to keep.
You can save some disk space by trimming the cast & staff part out of the video. To do so, click “Clip”
button on the top toolbar. The movie will start playing, and you can set where the play starts or ends. After
everything’s set, click “OK” to return.
Here we’re one step away from the goal! Click the “Profile” menu at the bottom, choose “Common Video” and then
“Audio Video Interleaved Format (.avi)”. This ensures that the movie come out in AVI format.
If you’d like to, click “Settings” button by the menu, and you can adjust the encoding options such as bit rate
and video resolution.
Okay, now click “Start” at the bottom-right corner. Soon the movie will be saved to your hard disk in AVI format
you wanted!
When you want to convert the DVD movies to other formats, you can always refer this tutorial. Just remember to
choose another format when clicking the “Profiles” menu!
